Why and HOW to workout in the MORNING!

Why and HOW to workout in the morning….

Lets start with the WHY:

For ME this has been my NO FAIL RITUAL. If I do it in the morning, I am done. I do not have to think about it the rest of the day when LIFE happens. It gives me the boost I need FIRST thing in the morning. I am more alert, energized, and HAPPY! This is what Louis Chang MD says from the WebMD site:


(“There’s no getting around it: To lose weight and keep it off, you need to exercise. But some days that hardly seems possible. Our days are overbooked already! Yet experts agree – exercise must become part of your overall daily lifestyle. And starting the morning with exercise is the best habit of all.

“The key is getting exercise whenever you can – whether it’s morning, afternoon, or evening,” says Cedric X. Bryant, PhD, chief exercise physiologist of the American Council on Exercise. “Your goal is to move your body as much as possible.”

But by starting your morning with physical activity, you set the day’s pace, Bryant says. “Morning exercisers tend to stick with their exercise habit,” he says. “

By doing the bulk of exercise first thing in the morning, you get your exercise in before other distractions can intrude. We can all relate to that — because once the day gets going, it’s hard to get off the treadmill called life.”)

Now onto the HOW! My favorite part. I hear t he excuse EVERY day, I don’t have time, I’m tired, I don’t feel good, I can’t wake up. Well I am calling you ALL OUT! Do this for 2 weeks, That is all I am asking 2 WEEKS!!!! You will feel better, have more energy, and be OK with waking up early. Here is my ritual:


~ I sleep in my workout clothes (helps cut down on time and excuses) or I have them laid out in the bathroom ready to GO!

~ I have my E&E (Energy and Endurance) ready to go in the fridge

~ I have my workout planned because I follow whatever program I am doing at the time

~ I have my shoes ready to go

That is it. It takes me 5 min to get ready. I don’t like to eat before I workout, some people do. If you do grab a banana or a quick snack and go.

Yes I have to wake up earlier but I get this done EVERY day. No Excuses. I don’t have any distractions because the rest of my house is asleep, no one is calling or stopping by. It is ME time. Now I am a happier, healthier, livelier mom/wife/friend.
